How do i get my acer aspire 6930 webcam to work?

• my webcam used to work until my laptop got a whole load of virus's and the only way to get rid of them was to wipe the computer of everything and they seem to have wiped the webcam software from the webcam? i downloaded some additional software but i dont know how you get onto it? the webcam is installed in the laptop. if anyone has any ideas or knows how to get it working please help! thank you XXX

  I had a similar problem with my Acer laptop. On that machine the problem with the webcam not working when the webcam shortcut was clicked. Acer had changed the webcam driver - but not the desktop shortcut. The solution that I found was this. Go to your device manager and look at your imaging devices and there you will find your webcam. Click on that icon and you will find the driver. Then go to your program folder and find the folder where the driver icon is - open it - and then go to then*.exe file. Click on it - and you should find your webcam now works. If that happens - right click on the same *.exe file and place the shortcut on the desktop. From there the webcam should work. If you cannot find the appropriate driver in your program folders - then I would recommend searching for it on the net. Hope that works for you.
