What is the best way to fix DVD scratches?

Is there a way to fix a DVD drive?

  • What happened was that I opened the tower on my desktop to clean out the dust, and in the process of doing so accidentally pressed this reset button on the motherboard. After rebooting normally, the DVD drive no longer works. My Plextor PX-870A DVD drive on my desktop computer still functions (opens and closes) but does not read the discs. I went on the manufacturer's website to look for any sort of drivers for the DVD drive, downloaded it, and opened it, but that didn't work. Did I "brick" it when I accidentally pressed the reset button, or is there any way to fix it altogether without changing the drive itself?

  • Answer:

Make sure all your firmware and chipset drivers are present in device manager, resetting a mo bo does not kill a dvd drive... should there be some issue directly with teh dvd burner? then heres a great place to get a updated new on for a great price>>> http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=10&name=CD-DVD-Burners-Media they start at about $19.99 USD which is not expensive at all.... I recently bout 2 lg dual layer drives with all the bells / whistles and they are perfect!
