How do I hook my computer up to my HDTV?

How can i hook up my computer to my hdtv?

  • i have a 8yr old emachine computer.my big screen is a rca hdtv.how can i hook the computer to my big screen?my tv has a dvi hdtv plug in the back.is that an option?or something else.

    there are a couple different ways to go around this, and considering you have an 8 year old computer you would probably need a full upgrade as doing a full HDTV can be really taxing on your system. however you could probably do it by using a cheap pci graphics card (agp if you got one) that has a port or an adapter that can plug into the hdtv. i remember my old radeon 9250 has a S-video adapter that was a standard yellow plug for a tv, wasn't HD though. since your HDTV has a DVI input, you can connect certain graphics cards in that way. i'd recommend just comparing the plugs on your TV with that on a graphics card. however i'm really uncertain if a 8 year old cpu could handle it. www.tigerdirect.com www.newegg.com good luck!
