Don't know if it would fix it offhand, it depends what problem its having understanding it, but something you can try is to go download the Ubuntu Install CD and burn it to a disc, when you boot up you can run Ubuntu off the cd (It is linux, It is rather user friendly, If you pick run off CD it will not mess with your hard drive). After it comes up click on System, then Administration, then GParted. In the upper right hand corner it will say something like /dev/sda (### GiB), thats just your first hard drive, click on it and look for something that says /dev/sdb or such. It will list the amount of space on your SD card (fyi, it will be a little less then the listed size, like an 8 gig might show up as a 7.49, because we count a GB as 1000 bytes, and it counts it as 1024 bytes.). Provided you find it, it will most likely say "unallocated !" under partition, showing that while it isnt allocated, it is screwed up. you can then format the unallocated space or otherwise allocated space to Fat32 (most common format for SD cards) and when you reboot it should work. Linux is rather handy for these things, I've recovered complete hard drives that windows has told me didn't exist anymore. Hope that fixes it. P.S. be sure you have your SD card plugged in before starting GParted or it won't see it, also be sure SD Card selected, and if it doesn't appear in the drop down menu then its not found and that could mean that either its rather bad or Linux doesn't understand your card reader with the live cd.
