How to clear my headphone jack in my computer?

My headphone/mic jack won't work on my new computer?

  • So, I just did build a new computer and for some reason, the headphone/mic jack won't work. I know it isn't my Turtle Beach Earforce X11 headset that is screwed up, considering I tried some other earbuds and they wouldn't pick up either. I'm running Windows 7 and the only cable that I didn't plug anything into dealing with audio is the AC 97 cable but that didn't have anything to plug into. I've tried messing with the audio settings and whenever I plug something into them, on my HD audio panel they won't light up indicating that something is there. Am I missing something? Let me know if I need to fill in more detail.

  • Answer:

Does your case have front-panel audio jacks with cables running to mobo headers? Those may be the AC97's. The audio panel in the rear probably will work because its inbuilt into the mobo. try reinstalling the drivers.
