Why won't my digital tuner work?

I have an HP Digital/analog tuner, why wouldnt it work?

  • I use the analog side of the tuner, I got everything updated via the windows update checker thing. All drivers are installed, yet all it shows on the screen is static. My theory is that since that digital to analog switch with all the tv's and everything, it makes my tuner on the analog side useless. I hook up a small antenna to the tuner. So anyone want to help me troubleshoot?

  • Answer:

Your theory is correct, even though your computer is a digital device and the tuner is a digital device, the analog side of your tuner is designed to pick up analog signals, and since the DTV conversion, analog TV is no longer being broadcast. You can get a Digital converter box, that would work, or you can use the ATSC (digital) side of your tuner.
