Can't get on webcam with the new MSN?

I have a brand new hp Laptop with a built in webcam , cant get it to work on msn?

the cam works on the hp media smart webcam and eveything else it just doesnt work on msn and thats what i need it for the most . i have the lastest verision of windows live messenger. when i first got the computer it worked fine and now it just randomly stopped, when go on msn it says that im allowing others to see my cam. please help me i have no idea how to fix thius

You could try uninstalling and then re-installing messenger, then try upgrading the webcam drivers. You can get these off of HP's website. If not try completely uninstalling both cam and messenger, reboot and then add the cam drivers and then messenger.
