Why won't my computer let me open my flash drive?

  • why wont my computer let me open my flash drive? i tried 2 different flash drives but my computer is just not "detecting new software" and when i go to look for it under the computer files its not there. i even tried oping a new document to try saving it--no go. what gives?i have used both flash drives on this Computer before and had no problems. its really frustrating and i have an english paper due!

    Maybe the place where you plug it in is broken, or the Flash Drive is just broken (Mines broke, so I bought a new one). I don't recommend buying a new one so fast, first, try putting it in different computers to see if it REALLY works, second, try putting it in different ports.

Some times flash drives have a,switch on them to lock them. If it is switched then you wont be able to open it. Otherwise have you tried rebooting your computer.
