Cant play files on my dvd player from my external hd thru usb port?

i have a samsung surround sound with a usb port i hook up my seagate external hard drive to view pics ,movies ,whatever but get a no file message

Chances are your DVD player can only read FAT32 devices Chances are your external hard drive is formatted in NTFS The only way to fix this is to format your drive in FAT32 but you would lose everything. Get another external device that's formatted as FAT32 already and just copy all your stuff over to it.
