Emachine vista os problem, be warned it's a head pounder.?
-
So here is what I am doing I have an old emachines computer that I am trying to fix, all it needs is to reinstall the operating system. Unfortunately its OS is long gone, trashed, lost; I don’t know and don’t care. I been trying to install my other emachine computer’s OS into the one I am trying to fix. The working computer is Vista and the old brocken one is XP. I am merely upgrading the busted one with the OS of the new one. Since delivering the OS through means of CD is not an option I am trying to distribute it by means of USB. The reason CD doesn’t work is because I have made dozens of OS copies and they all end the same; freezing once it reaches 66%. So I use a USB and use the following commands to transfer the OS information to my USB. DISKPART, LIST DISK, SELECT DISK 1, CLEAN, CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY, SELECT PARTITION 1, ACTIVE, FORMAT FS=NTFS, ASSIGN, EXIT, D:CD BOOT, CD BOOT, BOOTSECT.EXE/NT60 H: However, when I get to BOOTSECT.EXE /NT60 it’s not recognized by the computer. The update is not in the system neither when I tried looking for it. I can’t download it from online cause I don’t know what effects it may cause my computer. Also I tried forcing the command and it still says it doesn’t recognize the cmd. I also tried exFAT, FAT32, ect. The OS does work when I use the CD. It does begin loading but again once it reaches 66% it freezes on C/IMAGES/POP01I3E09C1162.SWM. I have burned different cd’s with the OS and tried to installing them hoping it would fix the problem but it doesn’t. I need a way to install the OS (Vista) into the busted emachines by any means. Can some one help? Please no "Try this <link>" comments. This is a real problem I am having. If you don't know don't answer. Cause if you answer with "Oh beats me dude" or "Have you tried plugin it" or my favorite "Maybe is your graphics card" it will make this question go from unanswered to answer and people wont answered to this Q anymore. Don't go quoting online recomendations or cutting pasting from different websites neither. I need some one that knows and that has gone through this very problem and found a way to fix it. Thank you.

Answer:
its probably because the machine needs to reboot itself and that it can't find the digital copy. Did you burn the disk using the native windows cd/dvd burner?
