Can i use a usb modem with my ps3 for an internet connection?

Use USB modem on PS3?

Is it possible to use a USB modem on the PS3 to connect to the internet by directly plugging the USB modem into the USB slot on the PS3? I really want to get online but cannot use a router (don't ask why) and don't want to run an ethernet cable either. My only option is directly using the USB modem.

nope, your best bet to set that up is to use a computers wireless internet connection (or usb modem connection) and bridge it to your PS3 connection within your network settings. (in windows you can select the internet connection and the PS3 and bridge devices) If you goto network connections, and then right click on your internet connection.. you have to check the box to "enable devices to share this connection" this will work with a wired or wireless connection from your PC to your PS3

i dont believe so as the usb aspect of the modem requires drivers and i doubt the usb interface on teh xbox is designed for this anyway...
