How to I add files to my SD Card?

I'm trying to add files to an SD card but my mac keeps saying that the card "cannot be modified." i cannot even change the name of the card... just recognized as "no name." It's a card from my camera and i have no problems taking photos off of it... but i wanted to add files to it from my computer and it won't let me. Please help! thank you.
