What to look for in a PCIe TV tuner for pc's?

Hello! Im looking to buy a tv tuner card for my pc, and do not know what to look for. I'm not looking for an hd tv recorder, just standard def. However, I do have a few questions; -Does a tv tuner card enable recording from a provider like direct tv? -If it does allow direct tv recording, does it allow it on all channels? -What tv standard does Direct tv use? (ATSC/NTSC/Clear QAM) -Will most cards work with windows media center? Any help with any of these questions would be much appreciated, or suggestions to websites to read about any of the above questions. Thanks in advance!
