What will happen if I reformat my hard disk?

How can i reformat my usb flash drive? when i reformat it, it says that the disk is write protected.?

• i cant copy files in my usb or even reformat it, it says that it is write protected. There is no switch in my usb where i can turn on/off the write protection. How can i remove this write protected?

  there is a hardware switch somewhere in your drive and you need to unlock it... also check properties after right clicking if you've check marked read only, but that shouldn't be a problem... just change the hardware switch orientation... EDIT:sry didn't see that there is no switch...
