Can you use your msn for anything else?

Mic is quiet and won't boost or anything?

I have Windows Vista, I have VIA HD Audio Deck, and I can't find anything to boost my mic. I have Turtle Beach headphones and I use the USB, and mic jack in the front of my computer. MSN doesn't even hear my mic, and skype barley picks it up either. I use the 10+ mic boost on vent, but it doesn't boost my mic for anything else. I've looked all over my computer for a mic boost, including the Vista Control Panel but there's no mic boost, other than the volume. I know there is a mic boost, because on my old computer there was one.
Answer:

Normally in advanced options under the mic volume. Find your sound then go to options switch it to the input and click ok then you can click the advanced button bellow the mic volume and click the booster. :p
