Why wont my computer recognize my camera?

Why won't my computer recognize that there is a camera plugged into it?

  • I have a camera that runs on mini DV tapes. I am trying to import videos into windows live movie maker. It's plugged in, and I'm importing it with Pinnacle software. Every time I check to see if it is on the computer, it doesn't recognize my camera. I tried it on my other computer that uses Vista but the importing device doesn't even turn on. Is there a way to fix this?

  • Answer:

may ways to check, is your camera powered on/off when you connect or it may be a case of you have to install the driver before it shows up that it has recognized it the system knows its there but it wont show it because the driver is not there for it to be shown search google of the make and model and you should find the driver.
