How do you fix a corrupted USB flash drive?

• I was loading movies into my friends Flash Drive when the My Computer window became "not responding." It did this a few times and I had to go to the task manager, end that process and wait for 20 mins. The last time it got hung up, I got frustrated and just pulled out the flash drive. Now, when I insert it back, nothing. My laptop can't read it. In My Computer, the drive letter doesn't even show up. The flashdrive now doesn't light up like it used to. I searched the web for answers but most of the solutions are for cases where the drive is still showing up in My Computer. Help.

  It sounds like you fried something inside of this drive. You can attempt to do a Software Recovery of the data, but chances are that this will not work due to the fact that your computer is not even able to recognize the drive. The second thing that you can try is to open your device up and see if there is any type of physical issues on the actual circuit board (e.g. burnt out circuits, capacitors or severed connections). If you are not very tech savvy I would not recommend doing this on your own. There is data recovery companies out there that do just this, they recover data from broken storage devices.
