SATA question please?

Hi, I have a SATA 1 hard drive but my mobo has SATA 2 ports. If i plug in a SATA 1 HDD to a SATA 2 port, will my SATA 1 drive work at the SATA 1 speed or will it increase? Thanks!

Answer:
The Sata1 Hdd can only operate at Sata1 level, even if plugged into a Sata2 port. I recommend purchasing a Sata2 Hdd and use the Sata1 as a storage drive in a non-Raid setup.

Hi, It will only work as fast as SATA 1 because that is the speed of the drive interface. I doubt you will see much of a speed difference in normal use anyway. Arnak
