Hi.. By "I'm trying to burn music to a disc " you have already tried .. You should know there are two different ways to burn a music disc. A more universally compatible "Audio CD" .. . Or The less compatible " Data CD"... Most burning software from itunes to media player have options to select from the above types.. As for the CD to use " CD-R " 700mb is the most compatible..and is single use. A CD-RW 700mb can be recorded on then re-recorded on but is less compatible. PS A DVD burner will also burn CD's

As has been said unless your player supports DVD which is very doubtful then it has to be a CD. A + or - R cd will be o.k as to a RW then again it will depend on the specs for your CD player. The format you write in will have to be correct. If your player reads MP3 then write in MP3. If not then the format will have to be .CDA or I think WMA the best way to do this is in Windows Media player. because it will convert to the correct file format if the music is in MP3 that you want to write
