Why isn't a webcam working with AIM?

Dell webcam isnt working ?!?

i have a dell inspiron. my webcam isnt working its saying "please plug in a supported device" its a built in webcam. help please ? XOXO

I have the same computer, what i usually do is go under the web cam settings in your control panel, or just retard the computer
