Why wont this flash drive work on my computer?

  • A PNY 8 gb, used it earlier today on a different mac computer, but when I plugged it in to my computer (Mas OS X 10.6.8) it wouldn't show up on the finder. I also tried it another mac computer and it worked fine on that one. So why won't it work on mine? I've tried restarting my computer, clearing history, and launching the disk utility. But nothing.

    What shows in the Finder is what you have set in the Finder preferences. Go to the top menu bar, Finder > Finder preferences. Put checks for things you want to appear on the Desktop. If the preferences are set to show external disk on desktop, and it still doesn't show on desktop, it is borderline corrupt. Borderline means it is just a bit bad, not totally, awfully bad. "clearing history" Not a step for fixing anything about a computer. You only clear history to prevent someone knowing what sites you have visited. "launching the disk utility" Launching? Not enough. You have to "Repair Disk".
