How do I get my 2.1ch Speaker System Subwoofer working?

  • Please help me. I just bought a 2.1ch Creative A200 speaker system, but can't seem to get any sound out of the subwoofer? Is it because my sound card only supports 2 channels? Asus p4sd-la is my mother board i think sound card is realtek ac'97 i think computer is hp pavilion t560a. THANK YOU!

    If you haven't already, you'll need to plug the system into the center/subwoofer speaker jack (usually green on Asus motherboards). Aside from that there's really nothing to do unless your speakers have a subwoofer volume knob that is separate from the master system volume knob (in which case you need to crank that knob up). FYI, no sound card really supports 2.1 channels as opposed to 2 channels. A 2.1 speaker system just takes 2 channel sound and plays the lower frequency signals from that stream on the subwoofer (and the remaining signals go to the other two speakers).

Right click on your speaker icon on the taskbar and choose Adjust Audio Properties hit the advanced button in Speaker settings and try different settings. Also hit the Advanced button for volume there is a slider for subwoofer. If you dont see the slider hit Options and check advanced controls that should show the subwoofer control You may have noticed a Realtek Sound Effect Manager in the Control Panel it has all the settings in it If you have no speaker icon on the taskbar Control Panel>Sounds>Sounds and Audio Devices You may need to install chipset drivers your Asus p4sd-la has Intel® 865 Chipset Family click on "Identify my Chipset"(it is for more than graphics) http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-009241.htm

1 right click volume icon. 2 adjust audio prop's 3 volume tab >> click advanced under speaker settings and select your system from the dropdown menu...under speaker set-up
