My computer mouse wont work with the ball in it. Whats wrong with it?

There are 3 contacts on your mouse. Take the ball out, and you should see in the mouse three rollers. they most likely have "rings" on it. Get some alchol and some qtips and remove these rings and it will act like new.

Can take out the ball, wipe it off real good. You don't have to unplug the mouse to do this. While the ball is out, clean the three rollers. You may have to scrape the residue from the ball off of the rollers and you can do this with the side of your fingernail. Have to turn the rollers manually to scrape the residue all the way around the rollers. Make sure there is no dust in the ball compartment. Can just tap it out or blow on it. Put the ball back in. If it still doesn't work, need to examine the rollers again to be sure they are good and clean. The use of a mouse pad seems to contribute to this problem, so can try not using one. You might think it would pick up dust, etc and further interfere with mouse performance but it doesn't. Good luck and don't give up......

Turn off your computer, then unplug the mouse in the back of your computer. Wait about 10 seconds. Next, plug the mouse back in, then turn your compute back on. This should work, if not, then have a computer technician look at it. It could be your computer who knows, or you need a new mouse.

Spend the $5 to get a new optical mouse.

They still use those? Get an optical mouse.
