Using flash drive (USB drive) as Ram?

Flash Drive or DDR3 Ram, which is better for performance?

  • Standard 1GB DDR3 Ram running at 800mhz or 1GB Flash Drive usb using ready-boost, which one would give better performance to the computer? If the memory had to be added on to an existing 3GB of DDR3 Ram.

  • Answer:

If more memory is required then the extra stick will definitely boost your performance. If the extra stick isn't being used then it will provide no performance gain and you are better off with the flash drive and vista using it to boost performance.

i dont think they make ddr3 800mhz memory. readyboost sucks, it only "boosts" the pagefile, which is actually slower because hard drives have 90mB/s while USB is 40mB/s. i think you mean ddr2 800mhz, go for it!

Definitely the RAM.

RAM is the fastest not matter what usb boosters you install.
