How do I burn VHS to a disk?

.iso disk image, burn from image v. extract and burn normally?

  • Was wondering if anyone could verify this for me. Is there a difference between burning a .iso disk image to a CD-R by using software such as Roxio. And extracting the image and burning the files to a CD-R as you would with common files? I only ask because Roxio will only let me burn disk images to a blank disk

  • Answer:

by compressing all the files to an .iso image and burning to a disk that would make the disk bootable from startup. for example if u were gonna make an os backup disk... and when u simply extract the files and copy them to a disk normally thats more for data backup and transfer. so in other words, by burning to an .iso image u are making the cd into an executable program that boots from the cd. on the other hand extracting the files and coping them to cd would not not make it bootable from the cd, it would just be file storage and transfer at that point.

there are sometimes hidden files and settings on an *.iso so burning with Roxio will make sure that the CD is an exact duplicate of the original CD because it is an exact copy you can't add or remove files

you dont need to extract the iso you just mount the iso onto disk.....you can run the iso directly in windows with a virtual machine [emulator]. This will save you burning the image. Use DAEMON tools, once installed simply hover your mouse over the icon on the taskbar and go-to virtual cd/dvd-rom > device > click on mount image and open the iso
