What certification can I get for C Programming?

What IT Qualification should i get?

  • I currently work in London in a big IT department. Im on a good wage right now but i dont know if my company will keep me on for more than another 6months since its IT department is going to have a lot of cut backs. What i want help with deciding is what form of IT can i train in now, so if i am made redundant i want security i can get another £30k+ IT job strait away. My experiences: Qualified engineer in security systems, trained myself in IT and windows servers and currently support windows servers and security systems including cctv. I have no IT qualifications at all and purely got this job due to my ambition, experience and self taught IT. I was thinking about my options: MCSEs (think thats what they are called) Theyre EXPENSIVE but i think i might understand it better since ive always worked with windows servers. (dont know how long training and course will take though) Storage - i have friends in this game and theyre paid well, but its all about experience they say whether i know the stuff or not. Training is monotonous and boring if i do it at home, i can go to india for <£2k and get a training course there on everything but if i get a job i the UK i will be on £25k start which is too low! Plus its linux, and unix and i know nothing of them. Scripting - i like the idea of being able to write scripts, but dont know if it pays well, who would hire, and even what to learn or even how to begin learning. Exchange server - i downloaded some cbt nuggets, theyare very boring and theyre not very helpful unless you have server environment to test on, theres only so much you can do on VM. Citrix - dont know much about it except everyones using it. Programming - i imagine it will take a LONG time to get good at and will start on a low salary. C++ or JAVA would be fun but difficult.Maybe HTML5? VmWare - interesting, working with clusters and virtual machines. Training i expect to be long, difficult and expensive! I might need to face facts that if i start something new, i will need to start at a lower salary, but if anyone can advise which i would have best chance of learning considering my experience, also quickest and cheapest training certification resulting in a good wage. Thank everyone!
