How do I fix the "Specified path is too long" error?

Windows permissions error! windows cannot access the specified device path or file... what can i do?

  • i deleted from hkey_local_machine \software\ microsoft\ windows\ currentversion\ internet settings.. the folder "zones" and now appear to exe files "windows cannot access the specified device path or file you may not have the appropriate permissions"... what can i do?

  • Answer:

I have no idea what flavor of windows you are working on, but if this just happened today then do a system restore. It will put back the missing/corrupted system files and won't delete any of your files in the process. I am not sure I fully understand what your question is as there are no .exe's in the registry so what is it that you are doing? You can't run the .exe? If that is the case do you have admin rights to the machine? Right click the .exe and select run as administrator.
