Can my computer be tracked?

What can I do so my computer couldn't be tracked?

  • What can I do or what application can I use so I can download torrent files without being tracked? I use Transmission on my MacBook for downloading torrents. Proxifier was the app I used before but it was a trial... Is there a similar app that's free? Or some other way?

    That is not entirely true. Using Tor could help. I'm not an expert on Tor, I try to steer clear of it because you never know who is watching that exit node. You could use a seedbox, a VPN or a VPS. There are ways to make it more difficult to find them. Alternatively, You could try using newsgroups.

You are always being tracked. The MPAA and RIAA hire companies to download torrents so they can gather IP addresses. There are programs that block known anti-p2p companies, but the only way to find out the IP address one of these companies is using is for someone to get busted(!) So even if you use one of these programs you are still taking the chance of being that one person who got busted by a new company or a new IP address.
