I downloaded a program in a rar file. cant open the program. keeps saying i need another file or sumpin?

RAR is a compression file for making files easier to upload to the internet because it makes them smaller. It's just like a .ZIP file if you've ever seen those. There are many free programs to open these files, such as WinRAR, which has a free trial, or Peazip(personal favorite) which is free. Of course Windows is lacking this one EXTREMELY important feature...while Mac has it built in. Stupid MS, trying to rip everyone off...
