How do u change a m4a file to an mp3?

You could just download a nice little program called format factory. It's free and will do what you want, as well as convert loads of other music, picture, video files. Your favourite search engine should provide a link.

Well there is special programs where you can change it like Roxio, do you have Roxio? Also what you can do is open "My Documents", on the top bar click on "Tools", then click on "Folder Options", then choose "View", then click the "Hide extensions for known files and folders" (so that there is no check mark on it), then click Apply or Ok and close the window. Next make a copy of the desired file, and rename it's extension file from m4a to mp3. It's going to ask you if you are sure that you want to change the extension name, and click YES. I've done this before for movies and it worked. When you are done go back and change the settings to hide the extensions ok DON'T FORGET! When you are done, right click on the item, choose properties, and make sure that it is playable on Windows Mwdia Player, or whatever player you use, and then test it out.
