HOW do you change te format on a dvd?? PLESE HELP?

This project is due tomorrow and basically I have been trying to figure it out all day...I have a video on a dvd disc I made and want to edit it on windows movie maker....however it wont import, or go into the program..I figure it's because te format??..please help I'm desperate

Save the file(s) from the DVD to your hard drive then open it with WMM. Try to recode to a wmv file. dvd to wmv use nero 8 . or find the file you used to make it into a dvd, and do the project from that file.
