How do you save files to a cd?

Why can't i save my files to a cd rom?

  • So i have a file i need to save onto a CD-Rom. Everytime i try to save it, a box pops up and says incorrect function. I was thinking maybe its because of the CD. It says its a CD-R 700mb. and in the corner it says compactDisc Recordable. Is it just meant for audio files? If so what kind of CD do i need to get to copy files onto a cd? thanks =]

  • Answer:

You must burn the data into a blank CD or DVD with CD Burner Program

You should be able to copy any type of files to that kind of disk. The problem is most likely with how you are trying to move the files over. If you right click on one of the files you are trying to copy to disk, it will give you a list of options that you can choose from. Usually there is something like copy to CD-R using such and such a program. This usually opens up a program so you can move other files on as well. I'm not sure what the error message means specifically but it just sounds like you're trying to do it in a way that the computer doesn't agree with.

CompactDisc Recordable is the long wording of CD-R. Anything you record on it (music, files, photos) is digital data, no matter what. So that "type" of disc will work for anything that can fit onto it. The actual error you are getting baffles me. Maybe what you need to do is save the file to your hard drive, as per usual. Then right-click that file, and "send to CD" or similar and go from there. A balloon should pop up that will guide the way to recording the actual file to CD. You are actually making a copy onto CD, not "moving" the data you chose to "send to CD". good luck

you only can burn audio files to a CDR once only to play on a cd player and you cant erase what you put on them, you can copy more files onto as data but you cant do a second burn using an audio burner
