What's the difference between a "Server" and a Computer?

What is the difference between a server and a computer? Can you hook a server up to your computer to get better performance? Seems like a server has everything a PC has except the Harddrive. Answer:
Facepalm is kind of abrupt, but basically he's right about the uses of servers. They cannot be connected to a personal computer to enhance its performance. But you can get more efficient use of several computers - there are three in my house - by using a simple router that networks the machines. We can all be online at the same time performing several different functions - one of us might be working on our club newsletter, one might be doing some shopping, and one might be sitting here monkeying around on Yahoo! Answers - all at the same time. There are a number of ways to make your personal machine faster and able to store more data. They range from adding an outboard hard drive, having a technician swap out your current hard drive for one with a larger capacity, and swapping out the processor for a new one. Upgrading, however, is usually far less complicated and far less often mucked up by incompatible factors by buying a whole new computer.

Wow.. Servers are designed to 'serve' applications or data. If you notice the mounts, the system is supposed to go onto a rack. 1) This computer will be NOISY. 2) The video chipset will be garbage for gaming. It's only designed for light administrative purposes 3) This system is not upgradable. 4) You don't 'hook a server to your computer for better performance' 5) The server you listed doesn't come with a hard drive because it will depend on the application you are trying to serve. File servers will require huge hard drives, whereas you can get by with a small SSD for a web server or router. Since you have no idea what you're doing, do not buy this server.
