My friends computer program tries to open up with one thing!?

Okay, so my friend tried to open up a picture file that I sent her on skype. It was a shortcut to a picture that I had, and I thought it would just open the picture instead trying to find the picture with the shortcut.. Anyways, so she tried to open it up, it came up with like select the program you would like to open this with list. She clicked a picture thing, and now ALL of her programs open up with a picture viewing program! Like, internet explorer will open up with that program.. I was wondering if I could get help from anyone, or else she will probably be really mad.. :/. Thanks if anyone could help! xD.

Get her to do a System Restore to a day before she changed things.
