No sound in my computer please help me?

  • So for 3weeks now i've been trying to get my sound back i removed soundmax because i thought it was junk so when i realized that i had no sound in my computer i went to the control panel and clicked on sound and devices and start it to mess with alot of things but still no sound, and then i right clicked my computer and clicked properties i clicked the hardware tab and then device manger and then i start it to remove all of the things with a yellow question mark beside it. That didn't work so i google 'NO SOUND IN MY COMPUTER' one said that i should do system restore so i did but nothing happen and then i realized that the program that i removed was soundmax so i tried to re-install it again but i got this erro message: DRIVER NOT FOUND! REBOOT YOUR SYSTEM, AND RUN THIS SETUP AGAIN. i rebooted my computer and ran the setup again but the same message pops up. So i have a dell Dimension 4550 i went to dell support and clicked on devices i tried to download sound blaster from there but this message pops up: CANNOT START APPLICATION. THE APPLICATION IS MISSING REQUIRED FILES. CONTACT APPLICATION VENDOR FOR ASSISTANCE. i made i another account on my computer and tried everything that i did on this account still no sound i went to safe mode still no sound can someone please please please help me! im only 14 so no big words help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my parents tried everything to help !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Answer:

Well, sounds like you deleted some important files you should not have deleted. Try INSTALLING drivers instead of erasing them. The ones that have the Yellow Question Mark mean that they are not installed. So what you should do, Is go to : http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_4550&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= then select the exacts parameters your PC has, and download the drivers that are missing, if you are not sure, download all the AUDIO drivers and run them. The only thing you should do is double ckick them, some ask you to restart your computer, some dont. Dont worry about that. And dont worry about RE-INSTALLING drivers, it wont hurt you... I hope this helps..

hve u installed ur CD of about MM3 in ur PC... Check ur Control Panel...

You said you removed Soundmax, was that a separate card ? Go into the BIOS and look for the onboard sound, and see if it is disabled. Change it to "enabled" ===== I found this webpage on the Dell website : http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim4550/advanced.htm#1118998 and saw this : Using the Dell Dimension ResourceCD If using Device Driver Rollback or System Restore does not resolve the problem, then reinstall the driver from the Dell Dimension ResourceCD: ===== If none of this works you might have to start over by re-installing the factory software.

You did an excellent job and did your research, good. If you go here http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_PNT_P4_4500&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid= The drivers for your model Dimension 4550 awaits you. Click on the audio tab and grab the analog Devices driver then after downloading and installing it the yellow question mark in device manager will be no more. And sound will resume
