How to fix Windows Live Movie Maker video?

So i downloaded a free trailer off itunes to put in a movie which I was making on Windows live movie maker. When i put it in windows live movie maker it says its not working. So I click fix item and it tells me it doesnt work. I have tried changing format of the video to quicktime, window's live movie maker, windows media player ect. Also the help thing mentioned stuff about 'Codecs'? It's not working! Please help!!

Windows live movie maker is generally pretty unreliable even with the right codecs I would use avidemux instead - its not pretty, but the results are good and it generally works very well and gives good results (its free) I cant guarantee that avidemux will work for you but I have always found it far more reliable http://avidemux.berlios.de/
