Which type of files are .vmg?

How can I hide all files of a certain type in Windows XP? For example, hide all .chp files.?

  • I want to clear up a lot of system files that are mixed in with "useful" files by hiding them but I can't find an option in windows other than doing them individually by right clicking.

  • Answer:

Hi, i dont think you can do it within the windows system, but, if you go to the command prompt and go through the directories 1 by 1 you can use an old dos command called "attrib" just type on the command line in each directory attrib h *.chp and that should hide all the files with the .chp extension.

Other answers

You can hide a file, on a case by case basis, by right clicking on the file name (usually in My Documents), select the General tab and look at the bottom under attrubutes. Look under Start>Hellp and Support and search for 'hide files" to see how to unhide them. I didn't understand the other answer, maybe he's describing a global way to do it. It may be better to simply move all the LessThanUseful files to their own folder, then they won't be forgotten. Except of course emails from your girlfriend that you don't want the wife to find.

Turn off unhide hidden files and folders. and make all the files hidden. Organize them by using type and then make all of them hidden.
