How do I transfer my library?

How to transfer a full itunes library from one computer to another?

  • I need to transfer my itunes library from my old pc to my new mac. I know a number a different ways to do this. I have flash drives and external hard drives that can do this in minutes. However, I have many playlists on my itunes library. some holding up to 800 songs. it would take me WAY too long to go through my entire library and redo all of these playlists on my mac after i have transferred my music. Im looking for a way to move my entire itunes from my pc to my mac INCLUDING playlists. so that once the transfer is made, my itunes on my mac is the same as it was on my pc. is there any way of doing this. i also have an iphone if that helps, like if theres a way of transferring music in playlists from my phone to my mac. please help. Thanks

  • Answer:

Flash drives or external drives. Move the music files and the playlists. (Make sure the directory structure to the music files is exactly the same on the Mac as it is on the Windows PC, or the playlists will be useless. They're pointing to the unambiguous file paths.
