QUESTION External DVD-R/RW?

1) there is something wrong with your internal burner/cable/drivers 2) are you using 8 or 16 speed DVDs? 3) is your hard drive in device manager showing udma 5 or 6 or even DMA NOT PIO 4) 8 speed will burn a movie in 15 minutes are you actually burning at 8 speed ? 5) is the DVD burner showing DMA 5 or 6 in the device manager?

If you burn at 4X (you should never burn a DVD faster) it should take about 15 minutes - to burn. but the program has to transcode the files first - that can take an hour or two (or more - it depends on the actual content).

If you just burn movies to a dvd disc as data dvd, the burning speed of your dvd burner drive and dvd disc is the most important, usually just need 5-10 mins, but in most cases, the burned data dvd can't be played on DVD players, so if you want to play the burned well on DVD player, you need to convert and burn the movies to video DVD, the burning speed of your dvd burner drive and dvd disc only has little effect on the overall process, because most of total time be spent on video converting process, you have to take a long time to convert and burn your movies to a video DVD that can be played well on dvd players, how long does it take to convert and burn a dvd from any movies? Depend on your computer performance, source movie file size and length, and software performance, etc, a better software can provide the faster speed when use a same computer, like now I'm using RZ DVD Creator which provide the better encode quality and faster speed, it supports multiple threads, you can add multiple video coding threads on Advanced settings to enhance speed when convert movie to video DVD, and it support multi conversion thread, if you have a multi-core cpu on your computer, you can add more conversion thread in option dialog to enhance speed when convert multiple movies onto one video DVD. Or you can make video DVD in bedtime, the program will auto shutdown computer once the process completed.
