How do I boot ubuntu?

How to dual boot windows 7 and ubuntu 10.10?

  • So I got an Ubuntu installation disk from a friend of mine because I wanted to try it. I booted from the CD and followed all the steps. I told Ubuntu to install alongside other operating systems and assigned 50 gb space for Ubuntu. now when I start my computer Windows just starts instead of me having a choice between Ubuntu and Windows 7. the space I assigned for Linux is gone when I check it on windows so I guess the intallation did succeed. how can I get the dual boot menu without having to install Ubuntu again (because I already lost 50 gb :( ) I don't know much about computers and everything so please keep it simple :) also a link to just a simple guide (with pictures) would be really nice thanks :D

Boot into a liveCD envirmoent to check wither the system is there. IF you you can chroot into the system and install and configure grub2. Of simplies way to to run the installer again, using the same partitions and make sure to install grub to the MBR.

can you please ask the question in Ubuntu Forum? http://ubuntuforums.org/ It is much more easier to answer questions there than in yahoo answers. Ubuntu forum is the proper place for asking any kind of question (dumb or smart) related to ubuntu. Thousands of users are there, so you'll get your answer quickly and correctly.
