How can I get special effects on my camcorder?

I want to make a special effects film and am thinking about getting a certain apple computer?

I want to make a film with special effects. Specifically angels, palaces, creatures, ect. I will probably be using an HD camcorder and a greenscreen with chroma key. And I might get some help from some graphic artists and others. Now I need to pick out a computer! WHAT COMPUTER SHOULD I GET? I am thinking about getting a mac since they come with tons of good software. Or maybe there is better movie making software with a PC? All I know is I like the style of Apple's but am not married to it. So if not an Apple then what? If an Apple then what kind "Mac Pro" desktop? what kind? Will they be coming out with any new kinds any time soon that I should hold out for?
