How do I record sound from my computer?

  • On older computers I could choose 'record from my computer' etc.. I have Windows 7 and it does not have this option and I can't find out how to put it back on. I don't want to record with my laptops built in recorder.. i don't want to record with a microphone. I need the option to record directly from my computer. I've already shown diabled and disconnected devices.. the option just went away once i put Windows 7 on my laptop.

    I often record by using the output (headphone) plug on the computer wired directly into the input (microphone) jack on a small digital recorder. It's worked pretty well for XP, VISTA, and 7..
