How do i Fully Restore my Computer?

How can I 'system restore' my computer to factory settings without any 'restore points'?

  • My computer's got a couple of nagging bugs I've never fully been able to get rid of. Can anyone give me a hand? I have a Dell 15R (Model: N1050) running Windows 7 Home Premium (64 Bit) and wanted to do a system restore, but I haven't really made any restore points up to this moment. I created one restore point (15 minutes ago) but that won't really help my situation. Is there a way I can create return my computer to factory settings? I've already moved all of my wanted files (music, docs, pictures, program installers) onto my external hard drive in order to be able to clean my computer out and start it from scratch. Can anyone please help me out? PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

  • Answer:

If you have the OS disc, then just pop it in the computer, and boot from the disc. The installer will completely format and reinstall Windows. There might also be a recovery partition on your HDD. Look for something like "Press F8 to enter System Recovery" or something similar at boot (Before the Windows 7 glowy thing).

Factory restore is nothing to do with restore points. To do htis you need to boot the machine from the original disks that came with the machine, or that you created when advised to when you first started it up.
