Where can I learn about computers?

• Hey. I am 14 years old, and I am interested in learning about computers (mainly about the internet (but not exclusively)). I want to know where/how I can learn what make a computer tick (please excuse my rough terminology) from the ground up. Please understand that I am pretty much a beginner to advanced computers. My only experience is with moderate web-design, c++, and unix. The reason as to why I am asking this is because I have heard about people who lived in the 80's and 90's who even as children knew everything about computers and the internet. Now I find that children I know that are considered "good" at computers merely know their way around an apple computer (the simplest of operating systems) or know maybe a scripting language or two. I would like to have the skills of those first mentioned. Thank you in advance!

  There are summer computer camps that are held for teenagers that teaches the exact thing that you're asking about. It's like an introduction to A+ certification. Even though the summer is coming to an end, you can try to find one in your area for next year.
