How do i change my profile picture?

I accidentally changed my profile picture on my mac, how can I find the old photo and change it back?

  • When I first got my Macbook Pro it prompted me to take a picture for my profile. I really liked the picture. I tried to find it in Photobooth but it wasn't in there, and in the process of looking for it I accidentally changed my profile picture to another picture. Is that original photo I took still stored somewhere on my computer and if so where can I find it or how can I change it back?

  • Answer:

The original user picture taken by the iSite camera at first setup is at: /Library /Caches /com.apple.user501pictureCache.tiff You can navigate to that picture from the System Preferences > Accounts > youraccount picture choice, or an even better option is to make a copy of it and put it at: /Library /User Pictures /Fun After you copy and move it, you can rename it to "your name.tif". Then you can find it in Spotlight without remembering the cryptic name assigned to it by OS X.
