A scan turned my hard drive folders to files 32 KB?
-
i have connected my external hard drive to a computer (windows 7 if that matters) and it asked to run a scan and i did, just to be on the safe side and the scan turned almost ALL my folders (with documents and folders in folders in folders) to 32 KB. is there any way to retrieve my folders back? or convert them back to what they once were? my hard drive is a 500Gig and it still shows that i have 177gigs available as if the folders are still there... please help!

Answer:
What software did you use for the scanning? Check for hidden files in the drive, as it may have found fragments of corrupted files and set them as 32 KB files. I hope you had a backup somewhere else, most external drives are very prone to failures of any kind, sadly.
