Why is a webcam screen blank?

  • Does anyone know of a free downloadable software that will let me capture gameplay from my screen but also record from my webcam so I can make videos with my camera footage in the top corner of the video with the rest of the screen being the gameplay or screen capture. Or a software that will let me overlay the footage from my webcam onto the screen captured footage?

    You will need 2 programs to do this. First you will need a webcam software, if the one that came with your webcam is not available, you can use Security Monitor Pro - http://www.deskshare.com/video-surveillance-software.aspx. Configure your webcam in the Security Monitor Pro software, then right click on the preview window and select 'detach preview window'. Drag your webcam video preview to where you would like and minimize Security Monitor Pro. Next, use My Screen Recorder for recording your screen. It records your screen and audio from the speakers and your voice from the microphone. You should get a video just like the one on Youtube. There are some programs that will literally record whats on your screen. If you set the webcam window to be "always on top" then opened the game, then told a screen capture program to record the screen it'll record the game and the webcam. Some of them also let you set ,by either drawing a box or a freehand shape, which part of the screen you want to record. Try simply googling screen capture software. Theres a few on www.download.com.
