Computer used to recognize SD card, now it doesn't recognize it. What can I do?

I have 4GB Kodak SD card that I used to take pictures off of all the time. I had no problems with it. Now, when I put it in, it doesn't connect to my computer at all. I tried clicking on the Start menu, right clicking on Computer, going to Manage, and then to Disk Drives, but when I right clicked on disk drive, nothing showed up. I couldn't change the disk drive to FAT16 or FAT32 like another forum suggested. I'm getting pretty frustrated. I don't understand how my computer can go from reading the SD card to all of the sudden not reading it at all. Formatting the SD card is not an option. It would delete all my pictures, and that's just not going to happen. I also don't have access to a camera, so I can't put in there and connect a USB. Think you can help?

Try to change the card reader........... I also faced this type of problem once.... Try it.

hmmm..maybe you could try getting a multiple card reader, insert the sd card into the card reader and insert it into another usb port.

Is the sd card locked? There is a small switch on each card. Try unlocking it and see if it helps

First I would check if the SD card is even functioning by putting it into another device and making sure it is not just your computer. SD cards stop working at the worst possible times. If you find the card works in another device the SD card reader may have failed and will need to be replaced. Can be found cheap online.
