Why won't my CD drive work?

My CD drive won't work?

  • I have a Windows 7 Asus and everything had been running smoothly since last November. However, recently the CD drive won't load any CD's or DVD's and won't burn any CD's either. If anyone knows what the problem could be, then I'd gladly appreciate the insight.

  • Answer:

It doesn't load any cds? It could be faulty and need replacement. I would first pull it out and make sit it back in properly. Next I would aim to check the "device manager" (you can type that in the search field that pops up with the start button) for any yellow marks that point to a error with a installed or unknown device. Does it power up? Blink? Can you hear the disc spin? Finally, update the driver through your computer's manufacturer's support site using your computer's model number.

unless its a hardware problem you probably need to download and install the drivers from the manufacturers site.
