How can I fix my computer?
-
Alright, I've used Yahoo! Answers (as well as a few other sites) to try to see if anyone else is expepriencing the same problems, and I've tried basically every way the sites recommend (and sometimes fix), but nothing is helping me fix my computer. This is Microsoft XP. I'll list the symptoms: My computer, out of nowhere, is going incredibly, noticeably slow. As I type, there is a fair lag every now and again. Randomly, my screen (or browser) will freeze, and will take several minutes to unfreeze (if it unfreezes at all). I lag consistantly on the online games I frequent (namely runescape). When I attempt to restart or turn off my computer the proper way, all that happens is that all my icons and Start bar go away, and I cannot click anything, access anything, or DO anything, except hard boot the computer manually. Sometimes, when I click to open a file (My Computer, My Documents, Internet Explorer, anything), the mouse arrow will show the hourglass, then stop. Nothing else happens. Nothing opens up, nothing freezes, just nothing. I have done everything I can think of other than straight-up wiping the computer, which I WILL do as a last resort only. I have used Spyware Doctor, Symantec, and Macafee antivirus software to scan and remove any and all viruses from my computer (except cookies, which always pop up). I have Defragmented my computer 3 different times, as well as use the cleaning tools installed on the computer, and a hardcore cleaning software that you can download from the net. Nothing is helping, and I'm getting increasingly frustrated. I hope dearly that somebody can help me.

It kind of seems like you have Low memory, go to crucial.com and do a system scan. It will tell you How much Memory you have left, how much your computer can hold, and what type of memory you need. You will need to take out to old RAM and put in the new in the motherboard. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, Get a professional. This will increase your computer's speed. Otherwise you might have to buy a new computer. Good Luck!
You might have a virus. I would recommend using AVG or malaware virus removers because they're both free and they both are excellent in removing virus's. Other than that go to your control panel and then to programs, check if you have any programs which you don;t use that you could delete. I did that to my old laptop and it became at least 5 times faster. Good luck
Your registry is corrupted. Find out the errors in it and fix them using Reginout registry cleaner. If required, restore the system files to their earlier versions using SFC. 1. Click Start. 2. Click Run. 3. Type "SFC /ScanNow" 4. Press ENTER. Still, if the problem occurs, restore your computer to an earlier date when it was working fine. Here are the steps to do so: Restore your computer to an earlier state and clean the registry entries which refer to incorrect/ invalid objects. 1. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. 2. Click "Next" button to continue the wizard. 3. Select a system restore point and click "Restore" button. 4. Follow the on screen instructions.
